Hello folks. I'm a newbie here and trying to get the whole 4 wheel vs 2 wheel quarter panel/bed thing straight. I've read the previous postings, which all say that the 4 wheel and 2 wheel quarters are the same, with the exception of European trucks. My 4x4 truck has the original bed, so it's obviously got the correct quarters.

I recently ordered some '89-'95 quarter panel wheel arch patches from Rock Auto, who claims Sherman Metals as the manufacturer. When I received them, they had stickers on them that said "2 Wheel Drive Only". When held up next to my quarters, they appeared to be flatter (less defined flare) than the originals, but it may have just been decieving. Mill Supply sells the same product, and their website says "2 Wheel Drive Only". I then called Sherman Metals and spoke with a tech who told me that the wheel arch patch panels, and the full quarter skins that they sell are for "2 Wheel Drive Only" applications.

So, has anyone used these patch panels or quarter skins on their 4x4 vehicles and do they appear to be correct? My bed really isn't too bad and I'd prefer to just patch the one wheel arch that needs work without having to score a quarter from a recycler. Also, if you have used these, how well did they match the contour of the original quarter?

89-95 used the same bed unless it was overseas where some had the Japanese style bed with the hooks. Front fenders are different 2wd to 4wd

The difference is how much of a flare they have. 2wd only has a little one, but the 4wd one is bigger and sticks out more. 2wd guys use the 4wd stuff to tuck wheels easier without having to roll the fenders..

    first80toyota,

Are you referring to the fenders or the quarters?
