I finally have all my parts and a hoist and its time to pull her on out. I've got an impact wrench and all the sockets I need. Phasing tape to label all the lines. Are there any secrets or tips that'll make this easier for me?

It's all pretty straight forward, remove hood (mark hinges for alignment) drop the tranny, pull radiator shroud, and go nuts ripping stuff apart. Have fun =]

Go through the day before and spray every bolt and nut you even think may need to come off with a good penetrating or "rust release" spray like PB blaster. It makes a HUGE difference when trying to get those rusted and stubborn bolts out. Also, don't go all Kamikaze (pun intended) with the impact wrench on bolts that have gone through many heat cycles, like exhaust manifold bolts and the like. If something feels "bound up", take your time with it and work it out. It sucks to have to extract broken bolts cause you got in a hurry and it ends up taking much much longer than doing it carefully. I speak from experience.

When I pulled my motor I pulled out the radiator, pulled off the intake and exhaust, unbolted it from the tranny, unbolted the motor mounts, and as I lifted the motor I put a jack under the tranny, separated the motor and tranny and finished pulling the motor..

It's really not hard to do. Just remember what goes where and all shall be good!

Is it best bet to drop tranny? I have always left engine and transmission together on other projects

When I did mine I left tranny in the truck, only unbolted it from the motor. Just support it with a jack and you won't have a problem. Putting motor back in can be tricky but mine slipped right together first try, just line it up and wiggle it a little..:waytogo:
