I'm fixing to drop my 84 LB and was wondering if anyone could give me some heads up on problems I might run into or steps that'll need to be taken in order to make my drop work... Shooting for a 6" drop, so I've got 3" Belltech leafs and 3" blocks on the way, next paycheck there'll be Belltech spindles and shocks coming. The frame will be notched, the b/j's flipped and torsions cranked so getting to 6" won't be tough, but for unexpected issues I'm at a loss. Will the crossmember hit? Will the Shocks need to be relocated? Will the inner fenders need cut out up front? haha. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Im sure you have a 2 piece driveshaft. So i doubt itl hit. After the belltech leafs youl need shorter shocks. Not really a need tho. And most likely youl have to persuade the inner fenders. If u still have the plastic liners scrap em. Pull the fenders and roll the lips a bit.
might need a small notch in the rear too, your frame rail might be really close to your axle. Im not sure, i know on my 73 that 3" drop puts the axle 3 inches away from the frame lol
Just get some 3/16 inch steel and notch it. I had a 7 inch drop with my 92 extra cab and I just used Monroe air shocks and no notch. The size of the wheels has some effect as well. 69 Camaro V8 front shocks work for the front. I used them as well. They are quite firm and it helped with the tires rubbing when cornering hard.
I looked for 69 camaro shocks at o'reallys but the ones they showed me looked nothing like the front shocks on the yota. What kind of shocks would u recommended for the rear?
