So I ordered a set of fender mirrors and I want to plug the holes in the door. Anyone have a good temp solution. I want to eventually fill with solder and repaint but I'm looking for cheap alternative in the meantime. Plastic plugs?

Those push in type panel clips alot of new cars have work pretty good. I used them to plug license plate holes on a few of my cars. Just had to color match them

2-part epoxy and a dab of nail polish in matching color

Which fender mirrors did you get? I'm interested in your opinion on their quality, they're something I've been thinking about for a while after seeing them on a truck in a parking lot last year. My concern is the majority on the market would be fake chromed and just not very high quality

Do you use a backing cloth with epoxy? That or plugs sounds like it may be the solution.

I ordered a set from Thailand (ugh) because I couldn't find anything local I liked. I'll let you know about quality once they get here which could take a while. Here is a pic.

When you do fill the old holes, do it the correct way, use a round piece of metal & slowly tack weld around until fully welded, ( hold in place with a magnet) than grand/sand smooth. Than a good quality body filler & finish sand ,prime & paint!

Will do. I'm slowly working my way toward welding and body work.

Honestly, the quality is what you would expect for $40 from Thailand. The ones I got are a kinda cheap casting, but they seem sturdy enough once mounted. They're decent, but only time will tell how the surface finish hold up. I've only had mine installed for about 2 months

Ooh those look pretty good. I think those are the same ones I was looking at on eBay. Also saw some used mirrors off classic American cars that I've considered but still on the fence regarding going fender mirror or just finding two nice mirrors for L/R stock location. I got door mirrors that clip to the frame, but they vibrate more than the mirrors on a motorcycle and it's too small diameter to really see anything.

Fender mirrors installed. Still need to figure what I'm doing with the holes. Right now they are just taped. [IMG]

Nice that's the og style. I wasn't going to do fender mirrors until i say the ad that had those. Then i noticed the ones on ebay are the repos. I got to get them now that i know that. As long as it not plastic I would think it would be fine. Not like you're going to be smacking mirrors like big trucks on narrow roads.
