I'm really wanting to do a "matte black" or a flat black with a flat clear. I dont know much about the paint, So I would like some info on all this. I want a dull hot-rod look! Thanks all. I'M OFF TO DRINK GREEN BEER!

 

Black base coat with a FLAT clear when mixing the base use only black toner and then spray the flat clear on top. If you just go with a factory black paint code when spraying a flat clear on top it would change the appearance of the color.

Also if it were my truck and i was looking for that "hot rod" look a nice set of red steelies with some whitewalls and some red pin striping on the gate and hood

 

Or you could just buy Hot Rod Flatz.

 

Look into Wanda brand paint products. They are still non water-born products (in Colorado at least) If I were you I would do a black base coat, with a matte clear coat.
