It's about time to start fixing up my truck again. It is a 1992 extra cab 2wd. Here is a pic of it's current state. A sorry one:

    Parts installed

It has DJM lower control arms (3"drop) that I installed because the oem ones were rusted through. Torsions are cranked a bit. '69 Camaro Gas-a-just shocks.
The rear has de-arched (5") stock leafs and 3" blocks. A 4x4 double cardan slip spline driveshaft. Monroe air shocks.
The frame is painted blue but that is fading.

It needs some body work. Re-do the rocker panels. Re-do the rear end section and tailgate. The bedsides are fiberglass. Re-do the front (I'm using a 98 Tacoma front end). I have a rad support and a Tacoma radiator to use. Plus a nice grille:

    Damaged

I have done a lot of drifting and hard driving with this truck. It was rusty when I bought it from my friend. I cleaned up the frame but other parts began to fall apart from the abuse. And my sister's crazy boyfriend got mad when I wasn't home and kicked it in. Here is what it looked like from his abuse:

    Lessons from going fast

I used to rub but I am tubbing the firewall and inner fenders. I have already made a clutch assembly to mount the master cylinder under the dashboard. And painted my brake booster blue. Also ordered some blue coloured conduit/wire loom to blue it up under the hood.

And, I really like the looks of these, I have some wilwood rotors and hats to complement the 4 piston 4Runner calipers I cleaned up:

Not sure if they will work with my 16" Eagle rims but we'll see.

    wilwood

No they don't bolt right up. I will have to get a machine shop to make me some caliper brackets. I can use the original caliper bolts (might need some 4runner caliper bolts too)
    • Wilwood rotors SRP Drilled and Slotted part# 160-7105-BK 12.19"x.81" rotors with 7.62 bolt circle - $147.90US

    • Wilwood rotor hats Pro Street - Standard part# 170-1827 2inch offset with 7.62 bolt circle $89.58US

There is a write up about this install on TM. (search 'big brake'?)

    color

It is A factory colour. I am trying to figure out what it is called. I think it is a dark blue or something. Definetly a Toyota colour though.

looks like youve got a good game plan figured out. ive got the same calipers waiting to go on. and i hope youre planning on having the rotors turned to clean the paint off. dont let the brake pads do it. its not good for them. keep us posted on progress.

and i hope you beat his ass for effin your truck up. i know i would have plus smashed his windows out.

I scared him. Didn't fight him. I placed him under citizens arrest. I made him drive to the police station. I followed him with an 07 Taco. He couldn't outrun me so he had to do it. I showed a RCMP officer pictures and handed this guy over to him. I'm not sure what happened but I hope he got in some trouble over it.

Yea it all adds up after a while;)
I already had the calipers kicking around. You don't have to buy the ones with the black coating.
I think I am going to go for some 18"s because the setup doesn't look like it will fit my 16inch rims.
But I got my truck into the garage and started cleaning it up.
Here are some seats I made up a while back:

    Progress

I removed the box. It is basically useless because it is so rusty. The bedsides are fiberglass. It had a roll bar. I put it in my 4x4.

    mounts

Last time I remove the box I ended up cutting the front mounts. The bolts were siezed. I re-made those today.
I think I will be mounting the gas tank at the rear, between the framerails.
I want to cut the inside wall of the frame out from mid-cab to the rear. It has holes from rust damage. I will then be able to get all the dirt deposit out from the inside of the frame and then weld it back up.

You can't beat the look of clean new metal. I'm starting to see some progress.
