So i just bought a 89 2wd 4 speed pickup man do i love it already. I been reading around on this forum before i started to get in so i don't sound like a dumb ass so here i go first i want to drop it (for now till i bag) i'm going to put two inch blocks in the back and do the t-bar thing in the front. but i'm still lost on what bar it is in the front and if i need to take the bar out to turn it or if i leave it in to do it. Now howabout some motor swap questions i saw this 1983 cellica supra for sale for $600 what motor comes in that car and would it be a good swap i'm not looking for a drag car just a little bit more than a 22r that has a carb. And i really want to put bucket seats in it any good ideas on what seats to use and what i will need to put them in. Also a new front end now i read the pages on them nobody really talks about how easy they are to bolt up and where the best place is to get them. (im guessing junkyard). big question whats a good sit that has a lot of aftermarket and stock parts. thanks please don't burn me to bad.
Welcome we need more active people on this site! I'll let someone else answer the lowering question since I've never done it. For the Celica Supra it comes with a 5mge engine. It's a pretty stout good performing engine but it insn't that much more powerful than a 22r well at least not enough to go forward with a swap. I would recommend you build up your 22r since you aren't looking for super fast just do cam, header, intake, exhaust and maybe a carb. Check out LcEngineering.com for all the goodies. For the seats you can use 4runner buckets or ext cab pickup buckets both can be found at junkyards and ebay. For your frontend what are you looking for? All chrome? Billet inserts? 4runner conversion?
I actually really like yours. Whats it from, what year, how hard was it to put on, where did you get it, and of course homuch was it.
I agree with yoter... your best bet engine wise is to build up the one you have unless you are looking for a lot more horses... As for the front end... are you going to stick with 2wd fenders or go to the flared 4wd style...? I all ready posted some info on bumpers and grilles you can check out here http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=257 As for the grille Yoter runs I think he still has his stock 93 2wd one... right Yoter? If you switch to 4wd fenders you will have to change the corner lights too.... Check out ebay for grilles and bumpers....
I'm actually not running any stock parts up front. I'm running chrome: grille, corner lenses (clear), valence, bumper with billet inserts, clear bumper lenses, and "projecter" style headlights. I'm running all 2wd version stuff because everyone does 4wd/4runner conversions and I personally like the 2wd front better. It was pretty exspensive when I got it back in 03 or 04 it's starting to not look as good and the quality was pretty low to start with (taiwan parts) so I'll probally have everything rechromed or get new stuff when I repaint the truck this or next winter. I got it all from sporttrucking.com (they also sent me the wrong parts the first time). As for ease of intall I had no experience wrenching back then my friend and I put it all on in a day I could do it now in an hour by myself lol. The other thing is my bumper and grill were closer together than stock so in order to change out the bulbs/headlight I had to take my bumper/valance and grille off; So change the headlights to nonsealed beams too.
So i just got my truck back to day and the machanic told me that something i wrong with my lifters and that i need a new fan clutch (that i don't think is tho hard to fix) so should i just get new lifters from LC or what i still what to do is some sort of swap what is the best bang for the buck and easy to install?
