First off :applause: Welcome to toyotaminis.com & congrats on your find! There is SOOO much that you can do to your ride to make it totally unique and stand out in a crowd! What I would do is first off, check out other trucks, see what they are running and what would fit your needs and budget. Research some build-up threads and projects and check out every tech section you can find and gather your info, your know how, your budget and tear into it. Make your goals obvious and within reach and youll end up loving every minute of it and one day youll be very confident in sharing the knowledge you have learned, applied and driven. Are you going for Static ( suspension lowering without air ) or air assist, or full air:confused: We could spend hours chatting on what direction but we gotta know which of these your planning. Next, start yourself a buildup thread and share your work with everyone, just like the info your seeking towards building up yours. . . :runaway:

22re is pretty useless for performance but it can be a fun street engine

a mild cam, intake, oversized valves, header, exhaust, port and polish, and slightly higher compression ratio pistons will bump power up about 30ftlbs/20hp

beyond that it gets really expensive and doesn't put out much power per $1 also will get v8 gas mileage without the power

a motor swap is the best way to go

I will agree with this. I have a 20R that I built up a bit. Got an RV cam, oversized stainless valves, ported head and intake, Weber carb, header and full length 2.25" exhaust. With the 18s my truck still feels slow. Not Mazda B2000 slow, but slow. I get about 20 MPG, and my truck probably wouldn't beat a Civic still. This prompted me to buy a 302.

well i wannas stick with toyota and have been loookin into a 1JZ-GTE twin turbo swap just worried about room right now i can pick up a long block w/ 5 speed for around 2000 so it seems doable if it'll fit with the truck bein dropped.

Just so u know, im in the process of doing a 2/3 drop on my turbo truck (MC hualer). All i want to say is, to make life easier buy new outer tie rods and upper and lower ball joints, i new i would need them and didnt buy them, now the truck is sitting a few days while i get the parts :(

The motor swap, well u should be able to do it, just research it, but it CAN be done...im plannin on stickin a 6.2l diesel in my dually project :D yes i know its a POS engine but i cant beat the price i got it for and it will help me learn more about diesels.

you don't really need a 4-link. you could go with a 2,3,5,6, or some custom setup. its really preference. the old way was monoleafing, but i strongly recommend some type of link system. when properly setup they will help maintain pinion angle through the range of travel. if you run a 4-link then you should triangulate it unless if you are going to run a panhard bar.
