Alright guys, I'm a straight NOOB to these and have absolutely no idea what they are worth. I picked this up to drive a while back when i'm out in Oregon at my dispensary but i have hardly driven it. I feel like i got a solid deal on it and was hoping some of the gurus could give me some info / input / advice and get a solid assessment of what it is worth so i can potentially put it up for sale and be in the right ball park on price. 1977 toyota hilux, short bed, 5 speed manual. 70,967 original miles, new fuel pump, tank, stock carb rebuild, has a minor dent on drivers side bed ( will post pictures ) and a tare directly in the middle of the seat. Any input / information will be very appreciated.
Nice looking body. Really clean. Don’t know how accurate the odometer is (5digit). Can I ask what you paid for it?
Here's one on ebay:https://www.ebay.com/itm/1977-Toyota-Pickup-/164107186272?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10
Wow, nice truck. Sure you want to sell that? Prices are all over the place for good condition Toyota pickups, it's crazy how wide the range of prices is. Really sorta comes down to finding the right buyer as there always seems to be someone out there willing to pay for it at whatever price tag is on it - such as those trucks we've all seen priced above $10k and they're not even pristine or original condition You're definitely going to get opinions saying it's only worth like $3k. That's way too low in my opinion, I'd be thinking easily double that if its all original and in that condition, putting it in the $5-8k range. Cleaned up a little and advertised somewhere online with some really really good pics would get you the highest price of course
You would probably have to sell it out of state to get anywhere near $5k-$6k for it, that is definitely steep for the Oregon market
Why not? Put it online and see what happens. Saw a 1977 Hilux on Bring A Trailer that sold for over $7k earlier this year. Currently there's a 78 Chinook sitting on a 4wd chassis, with bids up at $26k! That one's in Oregon too
I guess so since technically it's their issue if they want to register it, but law says it's Seller responsibility. CA Vehicle Code, Section 24007 (b)(2) says: "Prior to or at the time of delivery for sale, the seller shall provide the purchaser a valid certificate of compliance or certificate of noncompliance, as appropriate, issued in accordance with Section 44015 of the Health and Safety Code."
Yes, it is the seller's responsibility to smog it prior to selling a vehicle here in California. What I meant was, it would be the buyer's deciding factor to purchase and deal with the smog inspections every 2 years on a post 75 old truck.
Same for me. I almost bought a 77 but glad I decided against it, found my 75 a month later. Been dreading the day I’ll have to part with one of my trucks, but the pre-smog will likely win that battle. I remember years ago a neighbor bought a 1976 FJ40 from out of state, and had no smog equipment - was so expensive to buy the smog parts to register it, he sold it
