i have a 82 22r in my 79 pickup. im getting a noise on accel sometimes its high pitch almost a whistle, could it my exhaust leak? now the new noise im getting sounds like a quieter lower pitch valve tap, but only from around 2500-4000. it sounds like a diesel exhaust note, good running diesel but diesel nonetheless. this being said it has plenty of power and doesnt lug at all performancewise.

and help would be awesome thanks guy, even if its just that its a normal exhaust noise and fix it.

 

acceleration noise could be anything. alternators can make a whine when theyre on the way out, exhaust leaks usually make an obvious louder noise. whine could be the alt, a pulley, etc

the other noise could possibly be a bad or collapsed lifter, hard to tell without hearing the noise
