Well, I guess I will introduce myself first. Im Scott. I just bought a 1976 toyota Longbed base model pickup. Its been rolled, its a little rusty here and there. It has lived its life on a log farm in Montana up until October 2013. ( it has the original dealer sticker on the tailgate still lol ) According to the previous owner, one day the parking brake failed and she rolled down a hill. Literally. She's death proof. 53,000 original miles on the clock. 20r with a side-shifted 4 speed. This truck is as stripped as they came. No power steering, no nothing. I drive this truck daily, believe it or not. about 500 miles a week. I plan on doing a ratrod/gasser out of it, and I need a hand if anyone wants to help. I am in need of a few parts ( passenger door window for example, mine was busted in the rollover and the previous owner never replaced it ). I am also hoping to find some information about the truck, because I cant seem to find anything really online. Thanks everyone.

Welcome, Scott!!! Thanks for the introduction and a history about your truck. What are some of your questions about your truck? Perhaps we can all chime in with answers.

Thanks for the warm welcomes, everyone. I am interested in finding some parts, for sure. I also am unsure about converting it to a 5 speed. I know the long bed sr5 came as a 5 speed, so I would figure I could just snag the setup out of a 75-78 long bed and bolt it right in, however - as we all know, they arent that common in junkyards. and the 84-94 is far more common in junkyards. I am also not able to find any kind of production numbers or VIN decoding. I know it may not be a huge collector item vehicle but I would like to know some figures. I am also getting ready to do brakes on it, rotors and pads, and from what i understand the hubs are pressed into the rotor? is that true?

Thanks for the help guys. I know very little about these trucks, most of my knowledge is Honda.

Welcome buddy. If you can do Hondas you can do a Toyota truck. They are really simple. I have a passenger window, and can probably ship it if you need one still. I have little misc stuff too. As for a 5 speed, just get the whole setup from any 75-95 2wd Toyota truck and it'll bolt to your motor. The L43 side shifters were sometimes shorter, so the trans pad may need to be modified to hold the mount ~2" back further. Hope that helps.

Does that have bolt pattern adapters and C4 corvette wheels?

    Scott,
Send me an e-mail with the serial# on your truck. Your year it would be 13 digits. In 1981, that was the 1st year for the 17 digit VIN#. I've gotten pretty good about decoding since I've done mine. There is also some info in the microfiche parts catalog.

There should also be a tag on the driver inner fender. Says engine, trans, axle and paint codes.

Thanks for the help guys. @standardbyker88: It has adapters to mount the c4 wheels, yes. I am a little torn on the wheels, I like em but I get sick of em sometimes. They will prolly get sold and I am planning on buying some painted smoothies with baby moons for it. And i do still need the window, I would definitely like to get that off of ya! what do I need to do to get it ?

Rick, I pm'd you. And do you have any idea if the hubs are pressed into the rotors on 2wd? I was going to put new rotors on it a week or two ago and they looked like they have hubs that are pressed in place.

What are the specs on the adapters to fit the Vette wheels? I'm tempted to pick up a set of 17" sawblades for my 93.
