I rekeyed my torsion bars a while back and now im realising that my suspension in the front is way too soft. how can i fix it?? i though rekeying was supposed to make it ride stiffer. I dont know. it looks good but is almost literally undrivable. crossmember is about an inch and a half off the ground and with the soft suspension, it may as well be laying on the ground. I can literally press down on the front of my pickup and make the crossmember smack the concrete. I was looking for some higher rate torsion bars but i can only find them for 84+. I searched the forums for info about this earlier, but no one else seems to have extremely soft suspension.

Re-index the key again. Sounds like you didnt crank the bar enough

Or maybe you need new shocks too. Check them

Re-indexing and/or cranking the torsion bar will only raise or lower the ride height. Any changes to stiffness are just a coincidence caused by the change in the geometry of the lower control arm. Sounds more like you blew out your shock absorber since, by lowering the car through loosening the torsion bar, you are probably bottoming out the shocks.

If aftermarket torsion bars are not available, then look for torsion bars off of a 1-Ton truck at your local wrecker.

Yup torsion bar adjustment only changes ride height unless they are cranked up till the droop bumpstops are being compressed.

Change the shocks, your current ones are shot.

I installed the Gabriel Load Carrier shocks from an 85 V6 S10... made a HUGE difference. Compared to what I had these things made my truck handle like a corvette.
