bought it from an older couple like a week ago. Lady said her grandpa owned it, had been sitting awhile but put some fresh gas and changed the oil and she went, had brand new tires and brakes

So far I changed the oil and filter, new spark plugs, removed the toolbox and washed it. Plan on removeing the hitch and putting tailights back in the proper spots. gonna lower it, 3 in the rear and hopefully 2 up front atleast/ Wash it again and then try and wax it and clean the interior up. Oh got it for a grand if anyone was wondering.

yeah, id take it off now but the seats really beat up, its a nice truck, guy was real helpful with getting it up and going.havent noticed and real bad rust spots, theres some surface rust here and there but nothing major. Its tiny though, no leg room at all but im glad I found it and picked it up. Just hope i can actually fix it up they way id like. I might do some minor body work and then flat black it, im wanting to get some 17 inch centerline smoothies, kinda make a more modernized rat rod i guess? idk

I just read what your plan to do. I really really reccomend that you don't just primer and paint it. That won't stop the rust. Your putting a bandaide on cancer. You really need to put some sort of rust inhibitor on that rust man.

They sell other stuff that stops rust other than POR15, at least use some of that.

    Welcome to the site!

go to an auto body supply place if you can find one. or even a body shop. there are products like rustmort or one step. it basically eats into the rust and seals it. we used those at the body shop. both turn the metal purple. great stuff. apply it with a brush but it flows nice, its pretty thin. then a couple hours later you can coat it with paint/undercoating/bedliner.
