Hey, for reasons specific to my 5vz engine swap and original ‘74 gas tank, I’m using an external inline fuel pump. The cheezy generic one I’ve had is steadily failing, so it’s time for an upgrade. I’m deciding between the MSD 2225 and the Walbro GSL391, which both seem to be standard aftermarket choices for the 5vz. Both have roughly the same volume and pressure that I need, but the Walbro, in spite of varying claims about the psi, seems to be a more precise match. As far as I can find out, 43psi seems to be the required pressure, which exactly matches what the Walbro specs say, while MSD 2225 says 40psi. I’m sure the regulator will compensate for the variation. My main goal is to have the sturdiest, most reliable pump possible. I realize that pre-75 trucks typically don’t use inline fuel pumps, but if anyone here has experience with either of these, I’m just fishing for advice/opinions.
