i dont wanna spend too much but want it to be kinda fast at the same time.
thinking of clean up stock motor, timing chain, valves, a cam, bigger throttle body and headers.

would that be good or is there a bettter way.

22re? honestly it takes allot of $ to get decent HP out of the 22re, like you said, give it a good cleaning and basic rebuild, Throw on a open air filter or complete intake, header and exhaust and call it good

Freshing up the engine will help, but like other's said, getting power out of these engines is not easy or cheap. Just research, I did and was shocked at some of the prices.

So you have to pretty much work w/ what you got. Like you said, i/h/e will help. Check your engine mounts, wasted power if the engine is flopping around. Find a better set of gears. A locker can't hurt either. If your manual fan go e-fan.

Also loose some weight. It works on all the sports cars. Think Lotus. Gut everything you can stand to loose.

Out of all that, I would pretty much say that gearing will make the most difference

250hp seems to be the max feasable with the 22r's.... now if you want anthing else I'm sure somebody here can point you in the right direction.

yeah, my plan isnt to be the fastest pickup out there, i just want a rebuilt motor because i hit 200's but i wanna do minor things like a cam and throttle body to push it alittle more.

I think he probably means he hit 200,000 plus miles and wants to freshen the engine up.

I know of a reasonably cheap way to get well over 300Hp out of one, for a few minutes anyway....

Slap a bottle of giggle gas on it. They'll hold up longer than you'd think! LOL!!
