im selling the tow pig for 5,000 so that i can get a 1978 toyota pickup just rolled over 88,000 miles (ORIGINAL!) has the japan bed on it standard cab two wheel drive. No rust ANYWHERE! an older man owns it and it is extremely well taken care off going to go pick it up for 2,000 monday wish me luck!
Nope. The 78s were all actually sent without beds and made in socal. All the ones I've seen were. So it's an american made bed with tie rails.
for the record... ALL yota trucks made in japan and shipped elsewhere did not come with a bed or a rear bumper. older trucks (pre79) also didnt come with side mirrors

What is the difference between a cali bed and a regular bed and a jap bed for 89-95s? People always ask me if i have a cali bed, but it looks like every other bed i see.
the term jap bed refers to the beds that have the dipped in rail. like the old trucks. the cali bed is a term for the american made beds that didnt have the dip. because they were made in california after the cab/chassis got here.
