Not quite sure what your meaning by mechanical sensors, but most tachs use an electric signal from the coil or an inductive signal from a plug wire, the speedo uses a gear and cable until the later models that used an electrical unit, not sure on the year but it seems they went to electric speedos around 94.
89-92.5 Mechanical 92.5-95 Electronic The 92's varies... Im pretty sure that the 92's are electronic but you have to check behind the speedometer if you want to know for sure. Are you doing the sr5 tach conversion?
no im throwing a 1jz in there but im just sorting out my wiring right now havent pulled the motor out of the truck yet... just doing my research i will have a build thread once im done... im taking alot of pics cuz i know the speedo in the supra was a electrical... i found the wire from the ecu that has the speedo and the tach wire... but im unsure i will get it to work with the stock gauges but again i havent actually pulled the motor and messed with the wiring yet just doing my research
I have a 92 extra cab 2wd. It has gauges with tach. And it has gears in it. I know because I took it apart and looked a while ago.
