I may be moving to Los Angeles due to work, just East of Culver City to be exact. Can I have suggestions of somewhere to live in the area that would be suitable for family and realistically priced? Current thoughts are :- Torrance San Fernando Van Nuys Any ideas? , BTW I am from the UK moved to Mississippi at beginning of year so prefer "quieter" environments, I'm over 40 too...
Your british over 40 and want to live in a quiet part of california that is reasonably priced??? GOOD LUCK!!! Out of the 2 mentioned as far as quality of living I would go with San Fernando first followed by Van Nuys then Torrance. All 3 have a really heavy Asian/Hispanic population. I can tell you right now my cousin just sold his 2000sq ft house in Van Nuys (nice part of town good schools) For $537,000 and it wasnt a very fancy house. I have numerous family that lives in Pasadena (other side of LA) and most their houses are about 1 million easy and no bigger than my cousins. Unless you have bottomless pockets do not expect all your stipulations to fall in line. Honestly though find a good section of San Fernando or Van Nuys and do some shopping (most realtors can give you all the demographics needed on a neighbor hood as far as crime rate, population, ethnicity rate, etc etc but I'd really take a visit and do some research. Everyone on here from Cali is going to have their own opinion, good luck.
I'm in the Torrance p.o. Harbor gateway area Western/Torrance blvd. roughly. There are bad spots close by in all directions. I've been here for 7 years with no problems. The police copter flies regularly north and east of here in the bad neighborhoods. There are the accasional mariachi band partys but, it's kinda cool to here those--they usually stop by 11 or 12 on the weekend. I'm white (if that matters) you just be respectful to people and this neighborhood is pretty cool. It's L.A. so you just get used to alot of things that an outa state person will notice alot more. Hope this helps. You can pm me if you need any specifics for this area. Best of luck
Coming from England - my 860sq ft house in Bedfordshire was reasonably priced at just under $400,000 !. I probably would be best to rent for a while until I have an idea where I am! Someone suggested San Bernadino, more of a drive but cheaper.
i would recomend chino hills maybe corona closer than san bernardino nice areas san bernardino just to poor lookin
Yah Corona wouldnt be too bad. Pasadena is nice but opposite side of where you are trying to be. I love Idaho $400 grand buys you a mini mansion. $1 mill buys a Beverly Hills style ranch
I was born and raised in so. Cal. {Malibu area} If i were ever to move back, i think that's where i'de go ... Allot of good memories, good people and great beaches ... GOOD LUCK, bro ... Let us know where you end up ...
