Does anyone know for a fact if the white seat will work with a 1973 L45? (Which is what I believe to be in my '73 Hilux with an 18R-C.)

If not, is there any other option? My shifter is so damn sloppy it's hard to find the gears sometimes. Any advice is much appreciated!

 

It could be the shifter seat or the shifter handle itself could be worn. I had to take the handle out and weld the grooves in the handle partially and regrind them. I called Marlin and he mentioned that was common with the early handles.
