lost power

    so i just rebuilt the head of my 22r motor and when i went on a test drive i noticed that it lost some power from the last time i drove it. Any ideas of why this happened???

    Timing? Valve lash?

    A compression test might tell you more...

    thanks for the advice. I just ajusted the valves and it sounds way better. The exhaust doesnt make the poping noise any more and the power is back to what it used to be.

    tried messing with timing yet? it'll make a difference

    yah i set the timing back about 2 degrees. how much would be good for bottem end power????

    wait.. you retarded the timing 2 degrees?
    put it @ 10 degreess BEFORE top dead center.. so @ the 10 on your timing marker thingie, that should get ya a lot more grunt on your truck.

    you can go all the way up to 15 degrees BTDC but you have to listen for pinging and then back it down. if you want more start advancing it lil by little and take it for a drive, if you hear pinging you back it back down a few degrees.

    ok so i dont know if i retarded it or advanced it but its to the left of the TDC mark so what would that be??
