Did anyone ever try to bob the longed bed and make it a short bed.also do I have to cut the chassi need help.plz.
4x4 guys bob longbed all the time, but it doesnt look like a factory shorty unless you take metal out from the front and rear of the bed they are all newer trucks but theres before and after pics in here Bobbed Thread - Pirate4x4.Com
Thanx for that, ive done 4x4s before , reg cab reg bed, but my question is if you look at a 1974 toyota long bed.i think i will have to do somthing about the chassis.or better yet i will just 4 link and cut the bed...what do you think,...anyone done this before plz let me know thanks
Im planning on bobbing my 74 longbed, starting next week when the sun comes back out. I do think the chasis will hang out the back and will need removed, but i have not started yet so im not sure, i plan on 4-linking the rear also.. I will do a before during and after thread also if anyone would like to see it, not sure when you plan to do yours, but it could be nice for you to see what all i run into before you start, could be worth it, could not be. **EDIT** How far are you planning on bobbing your bed also? i was thinking about going 12 inches.. but it might end up just being whatever i see looks best, i plan on taking ( whatever my total inches is, if its 12??) 6 out of the front, and 6 out of the back, i have a feeling if i were to just take it all off the back, it would make it look funny with the placement of the gas tank hole and such..
that is exactly why I posted the link to Pirate, bobbed beds look funny if you only take metal out of the back but the 4x4 guys dont do it for looks
Yea i will deffinetly spend some time looking at different measurements and such, i think if i take it evenly from both front and back, it will look good. I bobbed a 4x4.. and your right its deffinetly not for looks.
I tried to look for a short bed but that is all i found in good shape.. My plan is to just follow a short beds .. A soon as i start i will post som pic.. Like wise if you start first... Post em up...
