I have a Toyota L engine that needs alot of work. I am looking to convert to something newer but still keeping it Toyota.

What would be required to fit an 2L-T or even 2L-TE?
Can you modify a Garrett GT25/40 instead of the CT20 Turbo?

As a last resort I can always drop a 12H-T from my HJ61.

    What's the best option?

i as well want to swap to a more powerful... the 1l just doesnt have the snort. i was thinking about turboing it but will most likely blow out the bottom end. swapping in a 2lt would be alot easier than swapping 2lt-e simply from all the electronics the fuel injection model has. the 2lt should be a mere drop in with some exhaust and intake mods.

with good fab skills you can make any turbo you want fit it

I am going with the 2L-T and plan to have it on about 7PSi. So as to not run into any trouble. Transmission will be a W56 1-4th and a W58 5th in a w56 bellhousing (I am still looking into more info). Any extra funds will go into getting the motor shaved, detailed and polished. I was silly in thinking I could fit a 12HT its just too much work for so little gain.
