Recently bought a 94 Toyota xcab. It was already bagged and had been previously customized. The job that was done was not very good, so I am going to completely redo it. The guy I bought it from knew nothing about the truck, he only had it like a year or less. He just bought it cause he thought it would be cool to have. If anyone knows any previous owners or history of the truck let me know.
Welcome, man ... Nice Toy ... Try runnin' what info you have thru 'Carfax' ... It's helped me a couple times ... Good luck ...
Very good platform to start with. I had to completly re-bag my truck which ended up being a full build and not just fixing stuff. Hope you got a deal on it cause if it was as bad as mine was it kinda discourages you. Good luck cant wait to see the tear down and rebuild. Welcome to TM and THANK YOU FOR POSTING PICS ON YOUR FIRST THREAD AND POST WE LOVE YOU FOR THAT!!
Thanks guys. Pretty much knew how bad it was when I bought it and haven't had many surprises so far. Its gonna be a slow process but I'm up for a new challenge anyways.
Just a little update. Been just cleaning some things up over the last few months. I got a tailgate from the junk yard & shaved the handle on it. Also shaved the antenna. Mainly just got out some dents and started trying to get the body smooth. Got my wishbone link setup last week, I should finish that up this weekend. Ordered some gussets to make my one piece notch and bridge. Still got to get some new bags & brackets. Gonna try to have enough done to drive it to Scr8pfest in Concord, NC at the end of September.
looks like a good start, sucks you gotta redo someone else's work,i hate redo other peoples work had to do it on my yota.cant wait to see more updates
Looking at the pics of the rearend really scares the crap out of me! Reminds me of my truck when I first bought it bagged on leafs with an angle iron bridge welded with stick, oh man it was like a rolling time bomb ready to explode.
Yeah, it's monoleafed. The "bag brackets" were broken loose from the axle on one side on the bottom and the bar across the top was broken on both ends. Basically the only thing lifting the truck was the bags hitting the bed floor. The guy who had it before me said he drove it home, about 100 miles, on the interstate when he bought it. Lucky guy.
Wow! My bridge when I bought mine was made of angle iron and all it took was a good wack with a sledge and the entire thing fell off. Luckily for the both of us the intentions were to rebuild it anyway. I cant imagine what might have happened if just some random kid who thought it was cool bought it and was cruising down the freeway and that happened! Good luck with the rebuild, I know mine has turned out pretty good so far, cant wait to see another hack job toyota get rebuilt with the love it needs!
