I went to O'Rielly's and I brought in the measurments I needed and ended up with smaller hose. The one on the left is the original and the one on the right is the new stuff. Will this cause problems?

Thats funny, I did the same thing the other day and went to the same store. I just replaced my vaccum hose with a new one and I always take in the old one if not an example of what I need just to be safe.

The new hose is smaller in I/D and will be tighter going on, I would put a small amount of lube, I used 3n1 oil on the outside of the vaccum tube to allow the hose to slip on there and the only air/fluid that is passing through, is going through the tube itself, so seems like a smaller tube would just be tighter to slip on, thats what the lube is for. So should not be a problem from what I know of, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    Hope this helps

Thanks. I appreciate the quick reply. I am having a little trouble but not much. The original hose was slipping off way too easy and I have the same size hose but newer and it was slipping as well. I just hope that it will not mess anything up since I am trying to fix it. :)

That hose on the right is definitly smaller in I/D not sure why it would be slipping off the vaccum tube? What about putting a small hose clamp on there?

    Good luck

dab of dish soap will get the smaller hose in without too much trouble.

It shouldn't cause problems and a little smaller wont hurt

+1 always bring in a sample to compare.

If the old hose is stretched and brittle (falling off) it may be that it should be smaller than it is.

If the new one goes on without tearing, it'll be fine.
