well I am looking at the DEH-80PRS from Pioneer

My biggest interest so far is the auto tune/sound sound quilty the auto tune can give me a nice head start on tuning the deck if i don't like it's pre-set's

Does any one run this deck and how do my you like it thus far

reason for getting this is my is not working all to well right now

I love my Alpine Ida X200. Even has a small amplifier on it so sound is crisp.

I have the 80PRS. Sound quality is outstanding! - I'm running active with it - so one speaker per channel, all crossovers done thru the deck. Running a pair of Massive Audio 6.5s, tweets, and a single Soundstream ported 10 off an Image Dynamics 5 Channel amp.

Autotune is simple and fast, and its easy to fine tune it as well.

    Sound quality 9+/10
    Faceplate stying 5/10

I love the way the deck sounds and the features, but then the graphics and illumination are like 15 year old technology. That my biggest gripe.

SD card slot is really nice as well, and pandora controls. I have a 32GB SDHC card in it right now that works, but it would not read my 128GB SDHC card.

One thing though - if you want to mount it with the factory radio brackets and use the RCA outputs, you have to modify the heater box as the deck is simply too long to fit in our dash with the way the RCAs plug in in the back.

As someone who used to install stereos, there's one thing I'd point out.

Unless your truck is really well sound damped against vibration and outside noise, or you listen to the music with it not running a lot, all the subtle details it can reproduce will be lost (also a valid point if your speakers aren't top notch and properly placed). In a moving vehicle, your noise floor is around 50-60db at best if you're not in a luxury car, so subtlety isn't noticable. For reference, mine is probably closer to 85db, because of a hole in the exhaust and no damping.

It does look like a good head unit if you're running a few amps. If you're just running speakers off the head unit, I'd consider something cheaper unless you know you'll be adding amps in the future, or you really, really want that equalizer feature.

tl;dr: If it's got the functionality you want, if the reviews are satisfactory to you, and the price is fair in your mind, go for it.

I haven't had a Pioneer since the early 90's so I can't speak to them now. I am a HUGE fan of Alpine. But I agree with Tuhd. These trucks need major sound dampening or your spinning your wheels with higher-end systems.

It's a nice sounding deck - even without the autotune it sounds better than my DEH8000R that I paid almost 3X as much for back in '98.

The ASL is seamless as well and you can adjust how much it raises the volume as road noise increases.

I've a Kenwood high end unit sense 1996 ( yeah it is old), replacing with a Kenwood DDX419 touch screen.
Truck is very insulated , run JBL 2-ways @ stock front location, JBL 3-ways in rear 1/4 panels, & a Keenwood 10'' sub in the center. Kenwood 4--chan & Kenwood Mono.sub amps!

Sound is very clean & good, rolling @ 80 with windows down or sitting still!!!
