Can anyone be so kind and educate me about the 22r carb engine?.....Im planning to swap my 3vze with the 22r. The good and the bad things about the engine. What I know about the current that I have is I've replace my heads twice and I'm sick and tired of over priced labor charge. Yeah, Im no mechanic but still trying to be knowledgeable about them. Any info will be appreciated.

the 22r engines if built right will last forever or maybe like 300,000 miles or more before any rebuild.its very easy to maintain and lots of performance parts for it.overall good engine

I've got a 1990 Pickup with the 22R in it. It was severely abused before I got it. The head gasket blew shortly after purchase. I had to replace the head (orig. was cracked), radiator, water pump, oil pump, thermostat, timing chain (might as well since I was in there). It was a royal pain but the little guy runs great now. I also replaced the stock carb with a Weber 32/36 since the orig needed a rebuild (rebuild kit almost as much as Weber). It starts right up and I get an average of 24 mpg depending on driving conditions.
