I found a rough 76 hilux 20 R 4 speed that I'm very interested in buying and making a decent sized project out of. The pictures I've seen show a complete truck. It doesn't run but the motor will turn. I built the first truck I ever drove, a 1954 Ford f-100. I'm really looking for some advice/info that is specific to these trucks that I can take with me when I finally go look at the truck so I have the best possible idea of what I'm getting into.

On a 76 you may have troubles finding the small odds and ends, things like a grill, ac vents, knobs switches ect. The minor stuff. As long as the body and frame are cherry it will be a fun project!!!!
Use the search bar and you will be amazed at the things you will find!!! Welcome to TM!!!!
As far as the engine is concerned their ultra cheap to rebuilt should you stay with the 4 cyclinder "R" engine!
You could do what a lot of us have done a put an engine that has absolutely no business in the small truck and make it haul Ass!!!
Have fun and good luck on your purchase!!
