So I'm in the middle of a 22r build. I know not the best engine to build up, I've been getting a lot of sh*t from people asking why I don't swap it. I guess I'm kind of a purest and enjoy old school engines.

So far I've collected quite a few go fast parts. Offy intake manifold, engnbldr rv head w/ oversized valves, engnbldr torkr cam, .020 pistons, balanced lce crank, all egr and air injection block offs, no power steering, electric fan, and a weber 32/36 carb (most likely have to step up to a 38).

After all that, I'm not sure what my numbers might be. Do any of you have a built N/A 22r and how well does it do? I've just been getting asked so damn much and I really can't answer, I just say it will be quick.

I've been using a built 22r for some time only my crank is stock and its been cut and knifed I enjoy it its not crazy fast but it gets threw the gears in a hurry ..real fun stoplight dragger and does pretty good on the highway you can surprise some folks

If your going for a wild 22r you'll want to get the compression up and use a more aggressive cam a large carb like a holly 350 or 500 that head and intake flows well your key power makers sense you have the head already are... compression and optimal cam choice and a carb to match .
Depends the trucks use as well my motor doesn't make any power until 4000rpm and can spin it to 7500 so your kinda just floating around from idle to 4k just depends the trucks use wouldn't recommend to wild if you use the truck daily there not fun in traffic.

This is my motor at 11.1 using pistons and a combination of head and block shaving

Wheres a vid of her on the road?
    :headbang:

To the OP Id agree it would need a bigger carb to yard out its full potential. But if ya get it together before a new carb is in the cards. Should be tuneable and quite a lotta fun!

I have an 81 22r block with .020" pistons and a 20r head decked .015". Thicker HG to make up for the cut. Roughly 10.5:1 compression. Ported intake, weber 32/36 with bigger jets and no choke horns, big pace setter header and 2.5" exhaust, ect. I think its about 160 hp judging from similar mods on similar builds. Its ina 78 2wd longbed, and it gets around really quick. Fries the tires thru 3rd gear if im not careful. Slides around really nice too

Standardbyker88 on youtube. I have like 6 or 7 videos of it posted. Some are short, some are kinda long. Check them out. The truck really does rip. I wanna swap my 4.10 rear gears for something 3.2ish. I usually launch in second gear everywhere.
