I read in another thread that the lower trim panel is supposed to just 'pop off'; but I am afraid of forcing it to the point of damaging it I removed the 'shields' for lack of a better name, from the hinge part of the fold down jump seats; but that just exposed the mechanism and not any bolts Could someone who has done this before give me the steps to proceed with please. I want to remove the jump seats for more gear storage. I removed the seatbelts and the holder from the floor back there. Are there any plastic 'studs' or bolts to pop in the holes? I don't want water or mud coming up inside the carpet from them. Thanks for the help, this truck is new to me. Hi, my name is Gene and I am now afflicted with Toy disorder
When I took the carpet & rear seats out of extra-cab to redo them I also took out that panel along with the rear seat section that bolts to the back wall. That lower panel is a pain in the axx to get out!! You really have to pull on it or get a pry bar under one side & force it off. There are plasic studs/clips that hold it on so if they do break you can get more. Oh & the bolts that hold the rear seats on are under that lower panel. To plug the holes you can use the bolts that came out of them if Im following your correctly or go to a partrs store & get some plastic caps. I use bolts when possible & if there are no threads then I use a bolt with a nut on the end to secure it. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your answer to my post. I tried a few times to gently remove the panel, but did not pry hard. It's 20yr old plastic trim and I don't want to have to go looking to replace it. I will get a screwdriver under it and pry a bit harder. I was hopping to leave the 'seat back' in place until it needed to go. But I have no use for the jump seat portion that folds down, so it has to come out....today! I read they are 10 mm bolt heads correct?
Thank you it is 10mm, and you were right the part needs a bit extra encouragement to come out There are 5-6 yellow plastic attachments that stay with the panel when it comes off. After taking the seats out it's easy to snap back into place. I REALLY APPRECIATED the quick reply as it helped me ready the truck for a 800 mile round trip I'm taking this week. I wanted to put as much stuff in the cab behind the seats as possible; rather than tarp it in the bed. The jumpseats and seat belts that came out made the room I needed.
