i took about 3-1/8 off my 78. same chassis more or less as your 70. this is after about a year of the springs settling. for a nice drop, id say start at 1-1/2 - 2 turns. and im just running napa stock replacement shocks up front. they havent bottomed out yet.

since that shot ive stepped down my tires from 195/70/14 & 195/75/14 to 195/65/14 and 195/70/14s. so the front has a slightly smaller sidewall. those fronts went to the rear.

standard, what did you camber end up coming out like? have you tried realigning the front to get back to stockish form? is it worth even trying? thanks a ton.

Im pretty sure you cant fix the camer without custom control arms? correct?

I bought springs from a 2000s Nissan Xterra, and cut and tested them. cut like half turn if its not low enough...

I dont really know how many coils, just did it till it looked alright, I still want to take it down another inch or so.

i cut one and a half and ended up with the drop in my "build" tread. i cut the one flat coil out thats at the top of the coil ( doesnt really do much, not a lot of up and down travel in that one ) and then half of the next. took my fender to just over the tire, im glad i didnt trim any more. ill post pics when i get home, the aftermath is in my thread called "well..." in this section

thats a nice crossmember. how much setback was that?

and up front, ive driven it almost 2 years like that and still havent aligned it. it doesnt pull either direction and the tires dont get chewed too bad. the handling is alot better with the camber than stock was. albeit i lost my sway bar due to clearance. but i still have it if i can figure how to fit it back in there. only way to lessen the camber would be to have the upper balljoint further away from the trucks frame. theres a small adjustment in the stock setup, but wouldnt get much. and possibly bring the lowers in too. otherwise the arms or brackets would need to be modfied. but i love my camber. i wish the rear had some too. :D

my buddie hooked up the crossmember..we are trading work..he built the crossmember and my blockoff plates, i replace his rear main seal ( wow that sounds super gay )

I think im going to modify where my lower arms mounts since its such a cheesy mount and try to pull them in to get my camber back to normal again..its going to effect my toe but im sure I have enough adjustment in the tie rod ends to correct it.

you might want to think about turning around the top a arm mount ... if i remember correctly they mount on the back side of the member so if you cut it off and flip it you will get about 2" of top push on the a arm and that is much easier than moving the bottom cinsidering you have to mess with the ties and sway bar issues

so im guessing that the only was to drop these old trucks is to cut the coils. i got a 75 and i want to drop the front and rear about and 1 1/2" so where would i go to get blocks for the rear

Pretty much. U can heat the coils too but ive heard horror stories bout heated coils snapping...

That or find a set of coils from another car/truck that fit and cut to your liking
