so i just bought a new beater.... its an 89 yota with an 22re automatic.. the problem is after you drive it for a few miles then put it in park it idles up to bout 2500rpms... and never really idles down.. any suggestions guys?
Check for vacuum leakes. I googled it briefly and I suggest that it has something to do with the egr.
the 22R was not a real common motor here as most 4th generation petrol "gas" hilux had a 3Y or 4Y in australia, gen 3's had 18R's and gen 1 and 2 had 12R's. the 5th generation here had a 22R non EFI, on the earlier models the throttle advance on the electronic choke sticks and here most just disconnect it and at times remove the electric choke altogether. Its called the idle air control valve, located underneath the throttle body, the same thing happened to me, there's no way to fix it the only thing you can do is get a new one, it's an expensive part so your best bet is to find it at a junk yard
so i finally had time to mess around on my truck today, but i dont know what this iacv looks like.. could someone post a pic of it and its location... thanks
ok, so i feel like an idiot... what th prob was, was th spring on th throttle cable and throttle body is was weak, i wound it a loop tighter and now perfect idle.... damn...
