My hilux has recently been idling high and I dont know what is causing it. The carb's flaps open and the choke opens but the adjustment screw doesnt idle up or down so I am thinking it maybe something else causing it. Just wanted to know if there is something else in the carb that can cause this or maybe a air leak in the intake.

Inspect all your vac lines. If you haven't done so already, check each and ever single one. Burnt/clogged ends, cracked, and brittle... Check your throttle linkage. Make sure it's moving freely and nothing is binding. Simple can of carburetor cleaner can do wonders to free things up.

If you haven't already come across it, here's an old post by (SHONUFF) that is very useful in regards to tuning up your carburetor.

Vacuum leaks will typically give you a very rough and inconsistent, low idle. If your having issues with high idling I would check your timing first. Too much timing will give you a high idle. Another thing would be to check your linkage, as "ToyBoy" stated, and make sure that it is closing/opening all the way. Do you have a stock carb, or an aftermarket?

Its a stock. I got a rebuilt carb, just put it on so I was thinking that could be it as well just wanting to see if there is anything else before I blame the carb and send it back. I hooked all the vacuum lines like it was on the diagram under the hood but the air pump doesn't work so none of that egr vacuum stuff is in use. Also does anyone know where I can get diaphragms or a new valve for the "pre-heater valve" that is on the breather? :verdict_in:

Hey mate. My uncle's hilux is been idling high too and it's kinda gotta us confused what's causing it. Our only prospect was probably something wrong with the carburetor so my uncle is thinking if using this nikki carburetor rebuild kit would somehow solve this problem since you mentioned that you also did rebuilt your carburetor. Anyway, any other advice or opinions about it would be helpful.

If the idle screw is backed out all the way and doesnt change the idle speed, chk your throttle cable if it has the proper free play...
