I've been a Volvo guy my whole life, but I've recently graduated to needing a pickup truck. Bought my buddies '76 Chinook for the rebuilt motor (40,000mi), and bought a '78 Hilux-turned-flatbed. It started as 'bolt all the good parts on one truck' and turned in to 'completely take apart both trucks to rolling frames, fix rust on the non-camper cab, paint everything, re-assemble the good bits from the pile, drive around'. I'm currently waiting for weather to put the painted panels back on the repaired cab. I'll get some photos up soon. I've got a HEAP of 2nd gen Hilux parts that I want nothing to do with, including a rolling frame, 20r long block, and a Chinook camper back. I'll prolly sell a few to pay for new tires. Anyway, good to find a forum of passionate mini truckers. Now if somebody could tell me how to lower this truck and still comfortably haul half a ton of stuff on the bed... I'll work on a few photos.
