Alright here's the skinny, in February I had an accident with the rear end of a Ford Fusion an it came out with a scratched bumper.. I on the other had to replace the whole front end, fenders, bumper, fan shroud, radiator a couple pulleys etc etc.. I did it right though and went with a 4wd front end.. I also bought a bell tech 4 inch lowering kit with blocks and control arms.. I'm in the process of building a hide away hitch that mounts to the frame and has the actual hitch going in where my tag is.. The tag is going to be mounted on a hinged flip kit.. If I were to lower the rear of my truck 4 inches would I still be able to pull my boat trailer and utility trailer with lawn mower? Or am I asking for trouble? I guess I'm just asking how low can I tow?! Thanks in advance guys
And I know I can pull my boat and lawn mower trailer no problem.. I've been doing that since I've had te truck.. I just don't know if I'll still be able to after its lowered..
If you have the 4 inch bell tech drop leafs you should be just fine and can always add some air shocks or good lowering shocks Can't be a speed demon .......cause there your axle will be closer to the frame with the added weight Regular riding mower small trailer John boat or full on fiberglass bass boat
It has 4 inch blocks, and it's just a 4x8 trailer with a troybuilt 17 horse riding mower.. The boat is a 15 foot alumacraft with 25 horse motor.. Relatively small.. I may pull a fourwheeler every once and again
I'd get some air shocks to help there not that expensive and do a good job . Run the air fill hose out the back for easy Fill ups Plus trim your bump stop or low profile ones Truck should manage pretty good
Should be ok. On those hidden hitches they have the insert with the ball hitch and it can be put in upside down with the ball facing up for a higher clearance on the trailer.I'll show you what I mean if you need a pic.
Like he said, flip the tow hitch to where it gives a lift above hitch. Set it wherever your trailer tongue is flat loaded. They have nice adjustable ones. As for the low towing you should be good. I've hauled alot of weight in my trucks and they take it just fine. Just watch how hard you punch the gas if you have big lowering blocks. But with drop leafs axle wrap shouldn't be an issue. Air shocks and a small compressor that plugs into the ciggy for filling your tires can give you some added weight boost for short term uses.
if you lower it correctly and load your cargo correctly, yes you should be fine. Stock leafs have the proper spring rate for the truck's load. So don't pull any leafs, or go with belltech drop leafs, which are lower yet retain ride quality through correct spring rate. adjustable valving shocks or air shocks, stiffen it up to improve ride and control with a load (or without a load).
