Hello everybody, first of all thanks for having me. Im new to the mini truck scene, but this is my 2nd toyota pickup, my first was a 1992 reg cab 2wd 22re I crashed it . Now, I just picked up a 1994 2wd 22re reg cab. I got it mainly because I loved my old one, it never let me down and I want something to haul my bikes (track days) and Honda motors around with. Heres a couple of pics of how it sits. As it stands now Im just doing maintenance, Today I put new belts and air filter and cleaned the throttle body out. Next on my list is fix the non-op speed sensor, fix the rear glass and latch thats broken, ditch the camper, and then smog and tires. My log term plans are as follows in this order 1) Lower it 2) 4runner front end 3) Bucket seats 4) Chevy LS swap (later down the road.)
Thanks for the welcomes!! I'm not sure if I'll do a build thread just yet. I'll wait until I knock out my maintenance and start modding before I start a build thread. This will be a slow moving project because I want to build my car's engine and some other things with the car before I really start going crazy with the truck.. Not to mention my scooter builds, and motorcycle builds (Which are almost done except for the FZ-09 which I havent really started yet). @TRUCK ACTION Im in the east bay Richmond Cali. Just across the carquinez
Well after a careless mistake and some diagnostic work I found out the problem of my non-op speedo. Just guessing I threw a new sensor at it and it didnt work *sigh* so then i took my time and checked for signal voltage, ohmed the signal wire, checked for a pulse at the cluster yada yada yada... I came to the conclusion that the speedometer itself is what actually failed. So I decided what the F.. Just upgrade the cluster to a 4runner SR5 cluster The old one on top, but yall knew that. Out with the old in with the new. The new cluster is from a 4wd 22re 4runner and in my 2wd 22re pickup the accuracy of the speedo is way off. It says Im going 30 when I know Im going well over 40.. I guess I gotta adjust it somehow. But I got that out the way today and recharged the A/C just in time for summer. Also, now I got the itch to put the rest of the 4runner interior goodies like the clock, speaker boxes, and map light/ rear view mirror assy,
Hey yall. Haven't done alot with my truck. It's been having problems. It started making timing chain noise, and almost sawed thru a timing cover to a coolant passage. So I put upgrades on hold and today I replaced, the chain, cam + crank sprockets, tensioner, guides, timing timing cover, water pump and oil pump. I did it w/o removing the head and I added a cork oil pan gasket instead of fipg. It feels good to get this "bigish" job out the way. Next on my list now is lowering, because it really needs some new shocks anyway, so might as well. Then, I need a new radio and speakers too.
Oh yea. Another thing is... When I was doing my timing chain/ cover job, I noticed the leak I've been having with my A/C is a bad condenser, so that's actually going to come before lowering.
