New to the Toyota world, just picked up a '79 SR5 shortbed. It's all stock, and in pretty good shape. It's been in AZ all it's life. I'm thinking about keeping it stock, it really doesn't need much. I'm looking forward to getting to know other Toyota folks and learning about these awesome trucks.

Welcome! Glad you found this clean looking '79 SR5. I'm the original owner of my '82 SR5 and got it in my junior year in HS. My HS Alumni friends are still amazed that I still drive it. It's currently at 292K miles. Just the other day while driving on the freeway, a later model Tacoma passed me on the right side and gave my a thumbs-up. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Thanks all. cb, what part of AZ? 1982, you just don't see these pickups much any more, I'm pretty happy with mine. I've been in AZ for 20 years, but from San Jose originally. So far I think I'm going to keep her stock. I have a couple of restomod Z cars, so there might be a chance of doing the same with the sr5, we'll see...

Cool, Patrick! I am born and raised in San Jose. I went to San Jose High, San Jose State, and work for the City of San Jose. You are correct about our trucks not being seen on the road very much. With that said, a lot of my friends can easily spot me driving around town. I've seen a few in SJ, but they are in horrible condition. I saw one RN3# and he had the whole bed loaded up with pallets. Your photo above shows a nice collection of Datsun Fairlady's.
