Hopefully she passes. Last time she did flyig colors this time an old guy searched everything an found a missing sensor but luckily I left an found a young guy. Wish me luck
Ya mine had til the 31st but I got it paid yesterday an smogged today so Monday I'm gonna get my sticker
Every place is gonna have smog sooner or later, it just depends on how strict they are. We have it here, just not nearly as strict.
The thing that bothers me is all the laws around emissions are simply about control. If they REALLY cared about clean air the smog test would be simple. Enter the vehicle year into the computer, stick the sniff tester up it's tail pipe while it's on the dyno and that's it. Who cares if you have a 99 GM 8.1 in a 88 hyundai if it can pass the emission specs for an 88 hyundai what's the problem? The air coming out of the pipe is what should matter and in the end it is what makes or breaks the air quality so leave it at that.
^ I got a smog shop to run my old Toyota with my Weber on it just to have a comparison. They just canceled the test half way through after reading at the tail pipe, then I went home and put my stock carb on and came back for the actual test. My truck ran like 60% cleaner (if I remember right) with the Weber carb. I don't mind smogging my Audi though, AWD means no dyno. They just run the sniffer at 2 RPMs. No load on the motor means it runs super clean.
Tht would be crazy as hell. But smog is so crazy they make you do an extra test now if your vehicle is beyond a 95 which is an extra 10$
You can use a G58 with its chain drive front output. It uses a differential inside so it can be ran in 4 high at any time. You can use a A340F with it's t case if you want an auto. It's t case is light years ahead of the turd case behind an A340H. I've seriously thought about doing an AWD road truck like a GMC syclone.
Did the same thing in a '66 Mustang I had. Came in with the 2V and the smog crap on it, loping idle and everything (timing at TDC! 0 degrees!). Guy knew me so said to put it back the way I ran it and he would check the results... I ran an Edelbrock 1406 with a K&N air filer... ran over 1/2 less emissions coming out. In WA it doesn't matter what is under the hood, as long as it has the Cat if it's needed and runs clean enough, if it's a 20 year old and newer. If it's clean it passes. No other BS. Much more fair. Never had an issue here. One of the many reasons I'll never (out of choice) move back to California.
It used to be 20 years then no smog after tht I think or 25 something along those lines but now they changed it to pre 75? But if your truck or car is "born" after a certain date in 75 then you still have to smog it
