ok first off.. my torsion bars are cranked all the way and 3" drop blocks in the rear. now the first issue i noticed was with my wheel spacers... i installed 25mm spacers just so i could fit the 17" mk4 supra wheels(to avoid boring out the center to make them fit)... then i later switched to 16x7 16x8 starion wheels.. i know the wheels fit right on the truck but i left the spacers on there just for the wider look. now what i noticed was that one side rear was sticking out slightly more than the other.. in fact when i removed the spacer it actually looked more like the other side so i'm lost right there now my next issue is when i loaded up an engine and tranny on it yesterday and couldn't move.. the weight dropped it right down on the wheel... i had to switch the wheels around from front to rear just so i can bring the engine home. what should i do about the rear?? stiffer shocks?? maybe 2" drop blocks?? i really like the drop that i got from the cranked torsion bars and 3" drop blocks.. and i like the whole wide wheel look. i just wanna be able to load up and still maintain a height that will clear. heres how my truck sits now... Your rear axle might not be centered... Also have you rolled pulled your rear fenders? There is bracket/brace for the rear fender that you can adjust to widen it a tad. As for the rear I would get some air shocks to help when you are carrying heavy loads.
Try getting some overload springs they have some add a leafs or the coil springs that slide over rear shocks at autozone, thats crazy it did that your rear is not even that low
QUESTION ONE. IS YOUR BEDSIDE ON THE LEFT DENTED?? we need more pics of the clearance on the rear. THESE are not like cars. any weight in the rear will cause the bedsides to meet the tires. Why? we have solid axles of course, we don't camber in like cars. ^^ do what they said and see if the axle is centered. I need to see how your bedsides are. if one side is dented, it'll look off. once figured out, we'll go on from there. happy truckin'
yes its dented on the left... its the right side wheel that sticks out further.. but i dont think the dent is that bad to cause the wheel offsets to look off.. but i could be wrong... cool i'll look into that... and yea same thing i said lol nope haven't done any pulling/rolling... didnt really want to either.. call me old school but i like the wheels to stick out... reminds me of the pickup trucks from back in the west indies ... any recommendations on air shocks?? brand??
i'll definately get some more pics tomorrow... i just have to put back the 8s in the rear and 7s up front... THANKS FOR THE REPLIES GUYS
It looks to me like someone slid your truck into a barackade or something. Or maybe into a snow pile? I think that happened judging by the dent. Therefore that hit pushed the axle in that direction. So that means that the leaf springs could be slightly bent. Or simply the rear shackles are bent. Did you look at the rear shackles? The factory ones suck.
well i wonder if it's the axle u bolts then. axle could be slightly off on one side so it sits towards the right more. maybe?
U should check if lowering blocks are still on the pin. Sometimes they move wen u put them on and sh!t ends up being off but barely noticeable
I'm requesting these pics... To help you and US out. pic of the left block, from the rear. pic of the left block, from an angle on the inside (just to see relative position) pic of the right block, from the rear. pic of the right block, from an angle on the side. This is to help us see what is going on. And pics of the bushings on the leaf packs on the front and the rear shackles. Thanks man! this will help us see what is wrong. sorry for asking so much!
sheesh i wish the guys on all the other forums was this helpful!! i'll get those pics as soon as i can... been busy with other peoples cars and no time for my own
What size tire are you running on the rears? The tires you have look to be 225 50. If you dont want to roll the inner lip or pull the fender. Then run a tire that is a tad narrower and/or lower profile. Also in the pic above take out the 10mm screw right above the tire.. and either cut off the tab or bend it up and out of your way.
BTW, has the bed ever been taken off the truck? *possibility of mis alignment too!* I see that it is also damaged though.
@Dcups, yea its a 225/50..... @CinNAMmon, i don't know if the bed was removed but i actually would like to do that before winter hits. i wanna clean up the frame and upgrade my fuel pump. but as of right now i wanna situate my wheels and suspension... i was trying to pick up a set of the starion shp wheels but now all of a sudden the guy isn't answering my text or calls. he told me $150 for the wheels if i got him some wheels to put back on the car... i knew it was too good to be true ... whatever tho, i'm hoping to pick up another pair of 16x8 -11 and probably run stretched tires to give me some more clearance.. might go out in a few and take those pics you requested..
soak the bolts in PB blaster. should be about ~8 frame/bed bolts, 3 bolts for the gas filler neck (these are a bitch.) and you should be good to go. you'll have to unclip the wiring too. remove tail lights, license plate, tag lights. Keep track on the rubber "washers" that go between the bed and frame. ESSENTIAL. thanks for taking the pics, just trying to help.
