These are some pictures I found from the minitruckingweb.com site that i thought people might want to see. I found a 17" Steelies on a Taco that looks pretty sweet. I also found this sweet truck that i dont know what it is and it looks like it was a wankel engine. Can any tell what truck this is and if it is a wankel engine? 2011 Forbidden Fantasy Show Custom Mini Trucks Photo 128
I like it, I was thinking it was a mazda B1800 or 1600 or something like that. Is the motor a wankel? There is more pictures in the link.
Oh haha i saw one in a rx-7 at the salvage yard and it looks just like it. That is be so knarly if it was.
That is neat, i was thinking about doing a swap like that if i ever do a swap. I think that would be so much fun to have.
Ya, Datsun 521 with a Rotary motor. 12A or 13B. My friend has a 71 and is doing a 13B swap right now...ish. Its taking forever!
No, he got an EFI car and is converting to carburetor. Doesn't look hard since the motor is so small. I'm supposed to do the mounts for it at some point. Turbo would be cool, but he's doing it on a high mileage motor with a low budget.
Ah i see, that would be how i do it too. Have you looked at how difficult it is to make new motor mounts?
I haven't looked at the truck or motor yet, not since he pulled the engine out. But I doubt it will be hard. I already built motor mounts for it and the stock motor, since I used a Toyota frame clip on it. So when I do it, it will be different. I am also building a header for it at the same time, I got a flange cut out for it already.
high mileage + rotary = anchor ready to drop. werent the wankel motors a 3 rotor out of a cosmos? or was the wankel the 4 rotor motor? sorry...... im not up to my mazda specs.
I thought Wankel was the guy that came up with the Rotary design? I'm not sure. BMW made a Rotary too, but Mazda it the one that has stuck with it. The RX8 has a 3 rotor motor in it now. And I told him that about the mileage. I understand they seem to pop around 100K and his is close to it. I told him if he is wanting more power out of it, and going to play with it hard, it won't last long. He had a complete car with front end damage. I told him to get a new clip and radiator, a cheap paint job, and flip the car. He paid like $500 for it. I figured he could have made enough to buy a crate rotary long block (under $2k last I heard), and be in the same boat he is now with a new motor. He is buying the Holley intake and needs the distributor and ignition from a carb car anyway. But he decided to part the car out instead I think. IDK, he's been working on it like a year now probably. He came by today to drop off money for the flange I had laser cut. Said he is back to working on it now instead of his lady friends car, so maybe it will happen soon. I'm excited to do the header and exhaust on it. This is the truck.. These are the last pictures I have seen.
Here you go, some rotary learning. My buddy gots 13 RX7's 1st gen with a RX8 remesis engine, 3 full built 2nd gen turboII's, a 3 rotor 1st gen, 2 3rd gens and numerous parts cars. He thinks its funny when someone says I want to do a wankel swap, he's like Um they are pretty much all wankel swaps. FELIX WANKEL Wankel engine
So all RX-7 and RX-8 rotory engines are Wankel engines right? Wankel is the name of the guy that invented the design they use? Is it like calling a hex key wrench an allen wrench right? haha
