anyways Im running pretty much a t3/t4 turbo on my 22r. Its a suck through set-up so the gas is running through the turbo and intercooler before it hits my intake mani.... Ive already gotta wastegate and boost controller.

where do you put the blow off valve ? I just got the hks super sqv ?

look on my sig pic and you can see my setup.

The blow off valve can be placed anywhere between the Intercooler outlet and the throttle plate. Closer to the throttle plate the better. Any pipe between the 2 that you can fit it would work. Well you could put it between the Turbo outlet and the inlet to the Intercooler... But id go closer to the plate.

uhhh, i wouldnt put that in...

a BOV in a suck through carb setup would blow gas and air all over your hot eng bay. prolly be pretty to watch tho.

efi and carbs work WAY different. on a EFI turbo setup the gas is introduced at the last possible moment before the charge enters the cylinder. on your carb setup the whole charge is gas and air mixed.

i suppose it might work if its a recycling type system where the BOV is piped back in to the intake just after the carb. but thats a lil above my skill level.

Wait you are a carbed setup.... oops thought you were EFI. I have never seen a BoV on a carb setup....

Shonuff has a point. Being carbed when the BOV lets off it will be fuel and air. So im not really sure.

how much gas do you think will spray out ? im not too concerened about wasting gas as I am blowing my engine or setting it on fire... if anything i was going to mount it facing the ground where the spray wont touch the motor or anything hot

You could run a recirculating valve that blows the excess manifold pressure out to the inlet side of the turbo. It won't make the noise of an open BOV, but it will help the turbo last longer. As it's a closed system, there would be no fuel released to the engine bay. (BAD idea!) With the carb setup there could also be sudden rich spikes that could cause backfires or other problems, I don't have the experience with a draw-through setup to say for sure.

    sweet I answered my problem...

talked to a buddy who does these turbo setups all day long on buick grand nationals.. he said as long as the blow off valve has a good gasket (which he said they last 6 to 7 years) it will not let any gas escape... and when it does give and let it escape, about an ounce of gas will come out each time it opens...

An ounce... wow thats a lot if you think about how it. The BOV will blow every time you let off the gas pedal. Think about how many times you shift in a day.... thats gotta add up!

You got a pic of the BOV? Im kinda curious how it will let the pressure out but no fuel mixture???

remember bov isnt for the noise its to save you from preventing your bearings to fail in your turbo.. compressur surge.. ect... i owuld change to blow threw... you will make a few more h.p also..

Hey those are really good pics! I think blow through would be better. I can't imagine that atomized fuel going through the turbo is very good for the bearings. Good posts Blazinrola!! :waytogo:
