I have a 91 toy. basic 4x4 pickup. The head gasket failed and the crank started cherping last week. Metal on metal. Lots of gray in the oil. Im not a fan of the 22re, which it has now, and a friend offered his 97 v-6 motor as his automatic transmission broke. I have a w56 5 spd. in the truck now. Will the 97 3.4L v-6 bolt up to the 91 w56 transmission? If not i have a 350 almost ready to mount in there. All i know about his truck is its an extended cab sr-5 4x4. He says its the big v-6 so i guess its the 3.4L. If not im going to have some fun with the chevy motor. Ill have to go easy on the transmission as it's rated for only half the HP ill be stuffing in there. Thanks much.
