This is my first bag project so i got alot of questions. I would like to triangulate the lower control arms on the front and do a 4 link in the rear with a triangulated upper bar. Does anyone know all the parts i would need to do this? My truck is a 91 reg cab short bed
Get educated first man. Dont jump into bagging your truck without knowing what you are doing. You more than likely will mess something up. Its not easy.
The exact parts you will need depend on your design. Basically you need bushings for your link ends, one end of the links should be a threaded bushing for adjustment, like this: http://www.suicidedoors.com/4-link-...ble-4-link-bar-end-w-34-stud-and-zerk-fitting That way you will be able to precisely locate the axle as well as make pinion angle adjustments. You also want one of the threaded adjustable bushings to triangulate the lower control arms. I have seen them made without the adjustment, but it is undoubtedly a good idea to have it. You do need to do your homework on this. Check out the four link parts section at suicide doors: http://www.suicidedoors.com/catalog/4-link-parts A lot of the parts available here will save you a lot of time over fabricating them yourself, unless you have access to cnc cutting equipment like suicidedoors.com or are really really broke, it's worth buying your tabs and bag plates there too. Search through the forum, both with the search but also just do some digging cuz sometimes it's hard to find exactly what you were looking for in the search results. There are several good builds on here though with triangulated four links. There is also a minitruckin article where they bag a 89-95 that may help you some: http://www.minitruckinweb.com/tech/suspension/0405mt_toyota_mini_shocks_drop_spindles/index.html Take your time and get a clear idea in your head of what you need to accomplish. It's all do able.
d21cruisa, i have been researching. i love to fabricate and if i do mess up something i will just learn from my mistakes. Shadetree Mechanic, i was planning on ordering, http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Mr-Roadster-4-Bar-Rod-Ends,25122.html for my link ends. And also Swedged tubing from speedwaymotors also when i get all my measurments. one of my friends runs a watter jet and he will be cutting all my tabs and bag plates and thank you for all the good info
Those link ends look fine. They are 5/8" shank as opposed to 3/4" on the ones I was showing you, but I doubt it's an issue (I'm also dubious about their claims of "weak" pieces of tubing welded to threaded shanks, I don't think the sd.com ends are anything to be concerned about strength wise either). That's sweet you have access to CNC equipment to cut your tabs! I'm jealous. Doing it by hand, even with my plasma cutter, I'd be hard pressed to make them and clean up the edge and have less into it then the cost of just buying the precut tabs from SD.com. It sounds like you got the right idea so far and I am all for your learning from your mistakes if needed plan. I look forward to seeing how it comes together.
yeah my dad knows alot about 4 link on muscle cars so i am taking his advice for the 5/8 ha. ya it makes it nice to have connections and i am all for learning by mistakes too alot of people told me to take it to a shop but i love to learn!! and so am i its gonna be a good build for me. the pic is how i wanna triangulate my front lower control arms.
i see your bridge is setup for bag on axle, but just so it's out there for anyone who looks here for bagging advice : if using bag on bar, the adjustable end needs to be on the axle side of the link... otherwise when you adjust it the upper and lower bag mounts will not align correctly.
ya thats what they were gonna do is bag over axle. but i wanna go a different route and thanks for the advice on the adjustment
yea read up theres a good article on 4 links and how to manage anti squat and the instant center heres a link that i dug up http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185
^^^That link just copied the tech article in Mini Truckin. Good info nevertheless... CLICK HERE!!!!!!!!!!
