Fix the exhaust leak and have the Weber tuned. And, [Truck Action] is 100% correct.

I have my Weber tuned at Ace Fuel Systems. They are located in Santa Clara which is really far from you, but you should be able to locate a carb shop in your area. I've gone to them once for a "pre-smog" in the past and they get me all dialed in before I get on the dyno for the Test Only.

I'm assuming they rejet the carbs to dial in the perfect fuel/air ratio so your truck doesn't run rich or lean. There is a guy up here in spokane that is like one of the top ten carb guys around. Not even just the area. You would have to send it to him but i'm guessing there is a shop around area that can help you out. Other than that yeah i would agree with what everyone said so far. I would just have the exhaust done right the first time instead of spending the money to have it done right to pass emissions the next time you have to go in. No sense in spending more money than needed just for a year or two of the type of exhaust you want.

You can also get a larger cat if the stock one is too restrictive. Might take more research considering you're in california and would have to get a california-style cat with whatever bs the state wants on it, possibly off a different vehicle.

    Probably won't be cheap either.

I run the stainless /flow though LC cat, it's pretty small & no problems with smog!
