hi I have an 1984 toyota pickup with the 22r. I wish my truck had a little more power. It already has an upgraded carberator header and exhaust. I think I really want fuel injection because I live at 10,000 ft in colorado and its often cold up here. Im not much of a mechanic and am wondering what my options are and how much i should expect to spend on modernizing my old truck.

    1. Welcome to the site
    2. Get rid of the jackson picture
    3. 22re would be roughly a $1500 or LESS swap and do good but also spending roughly $1500 on what you already got would make it a dang quick little truck. Cam, side draft carbs, port polish the head, advance timing and ignition, build bottom end with some forged internals and you'll be much quicker then swapping the 22re into it.

    4. No seriously Jackson gots to go

I gots no truck, for now
the altitude doesnt effect the carb too much as long as you arnt going from 10K feet to sea level all the time. For a decent power bump I would either throw in a cam, and get some head work done or go all out like euro said or swap the motor for a v8. Its not to hard to get a lil more punch out of these motors, but they are not great at making big power with out tons of mods which most of the time ends up costing more then swapping in a more powerfull engine.

and yes that pic has to go, man that creeps me out, and the ad sigs probably should go as well

A cam is the heart of any engine ,next getting it too flow more air in & out right!
Start here & you will see more power/performance!
A 22 RE from LC will be the all out way to go ,but $$$$$$ will be a factor!!
Any parts or advice from them is the way to go!!
