What engines will swap into a 1984-1988 Pickup with minor modifications? Something that gives you the best Horsepower and Torque for the best dollar?

And is it possible to use the stock tranny and/or axle?

A lot of ppl use Chevy but a Lexus 1uzfe would be cheap if got from picknpull and they give good HP. Any swap tho is going to have modifications

But would you say its easier to mod a 1uz-fe then a 2jz or 1jz in my truck? Also my truck is carb'd would I need to get the ECU from the vehicle I pull the motor from, as well as the vehicle wiring harness?

best bang for your buck will be a small block chevy. lots of people making kits and adapters to run the stock toyota trans.

a 1uz or 1/2jz swap is simply a ton of money to get going.

a carbed chevy is like 4 wires to run.

i'm doing the 1uz swap. i must say it definitely gets attention when the hood is up at shows. lol
