hi everyone im new here, i just wanted to know has anyone ever heard of swapping a corolla ae86 motor into a 86 toyota pick up, i have the 22r motor but it would be nice if i had a little more power. Thanks
You'll lose torque down low. Basically you'll have to drive it harder at a higher rpm to get somewhere. And use more gas.
heard of it. bad idea. see above ^^ only reason that motor gets any attention is from initial D. going DOWN in HP and torque. if you really want a 4a, you'll need a newer 4a 20v which again, it'll be screaming to go as fast as the 22re. WAY too much work for way too little gain.
Yup. I've had to say it over and over again. This is only for your good. The powerband of the 4A is in the higher RPM's... and the 22R/E's is much lower.... and much more easier 3S-G(T)E on a RWD transmission, that sounds yummy
Werd. Dropped off my GT40's at the machine shop. Get em back wednesday. +1 on no wimpy 4 banger...2rz minimum.
It's the aluminum block L33 with ls6 heads 310hp335ftlbs I'm keeping it NA it won't need boost with those numbers...!
the 1jz and 2jz in either turbo or natural form are great. They both have awesome potential. Current members are toting with 1uz-fe's and te chevy v8's as said earlier. A good inline 4 is the 2rz that predracer is messing with his will be turboed
Before I say anything I know on this one I may have no clue... But in the little I have read on the 1uz-fe Toyota v8 Like only one guy in the whole USA actually got his running and he stated it was the most expensive swap he could have done with the most hassles and trouble finding or having parts made... He said if he could do it over he would have just bought a tundra! Too many of them have been started but never actually finished! I doesn't make sense to change my truck to something I can't find parts for that was never used in this country Unfortunately most of the advice on here is not from anyone who has actually done a swap... Me included! But!!! I have researched this for literally years and I do know that the best "bang for your buck" is a vortec v8 (4.8,5.3,5.7,6.0) of any swap out there and has been fitted in to more vehicles than any other swap Meaning not only are there a ton of cheap vortec motors out there but plenty of real advice from guys who have actually done this swap... Good luck to everyone! No matter what motor you run!!!
RAjzswap already has a 2JZ in his. Another member has a 1JZ in his 84-88 burnzya has a 1UZ in an 79-83? and a 2JZ-GE in a 86 MTB68Toy, who did the swap?
toyota with a v8 i read somewhere on the internet that when swaping a 350 chevy into a toyota you have to use a body lift to clear the tranny i dont know how true this is ,on that same site it said that the ford 302 and i think the c-4 tranny clears the best of the v-8s ill try to find where i found that info and post it. if a 350 will fit with no body lift i will def consider that swap but i need to know for sure that it will clear.
Depends on how bad you want it to fit. Fitting my 302 in my celica. I could have not cut it, but it fits soooo much better with a little sawz-all work. Before the 3inch setback. And yes, a chevy 350 is a tight fit in a toyota. The ford small block is the smaller of the two.
