    1976 Toyota stout ….Contemplating engine swap, must be carburetted & of the period… was thinking 2M any thought or information welcomed

    Many of the early toyota crowns in Australia that had M engines had them removed replaced by holden red straight six, as the M's were a disapointment compared to the 3r versions.
    a 22r and gearbox out of a toyota coaster bus is not a bolt in, but is a setup that is similar and looks at home.

    T series if you are going to such length to fit one I would rather suggest an S series out of an early to mid 80's corona, as even though the original S engine is not much to throw a party about they are easy and cheap to obtain and as they were rear wheel drive it allows better latter model engines to be able to be fitted more easily such as a 5s-fe or a S series BEAMS engine or the 3L 3vz-fe v6 all bolting to the same series gearbox
