I was going to just cut and drill some plates to do the EGR blockoff but found these. Have any of you guys used this kit? It'll cost me much less to make the plates, but I barely have time to sleep lately, so thought this might be a good idea.

I was thinking of just cutting and welding up the EGR tube on the manifold so it'll just serve as a crossover pipe instead, so I don't have the pipe going around the head to the (now) non-existant valve and air pump. anyone done that or does everyone just swap the manifold for a non-EGR one? My manifold is fine and no cracks so I figure I'd hang on to it.

That tube is (I believe) for the AIS air intake system. The EGR cones from the other side of the head. I could be wrong, but I just removed all of this recently. There is also no need to leave the crossover tube, you can just cut it all off and weld it closed at the manifold plate.
On that note, no one makes a block off kit for the AIS that I could find. I have the LC block EGR off plates but haven't installed them yet.

Or you can stick a penny in the egr port and bolt on the tube. Works really well. I did this when I was in high school and didn't have access to a plasma cutter (and i didn't have money).

    Here is what I did.
Made a cardboard template, transferred it to a 1/8 steel plate, cut and ground to fit, used some high temp gasket material for sealing.
