Ok, now this is freakin' weird ... I check my fuel mileage every time i fill up and been averaging 29 mpg ... But this time when i filled up, i found that i only got, roughly 16 mpg ... I maintain my truck very well, tune-ups, oil changes, tire pressure etc., it's all kept up ... Truck still runs great and have not changed a thing in the way i drive ... No smell of leaking gas or anything ... Can anybody tell me what might cause such a dramatic drop in fuel mileage like that ??? ...
There is a small and short vacuum line on the carne going into a plate with 3 screws holding it on. That is the AAP (Auxiliary Accelerator Pump). If you pull the line off and there is any sign of gas you found your issue.
What corner do i need to be looking at ??? I looked under the hood but can't see what you're talking about ... Is there some place i can find a diagram of this ??? All i have is the original owner's manual and it does'nt help ...
Update... Been checkin' mpg the past few fill-ups and it's been gradually climbin' back up ... It's back to 29 mpg now and have no idea what the heck caused it to do this ... The only thing i can think of is it might have had something to do with the Lucas gas treatment i had added just before it dropped ... Since then i added two cans of Seafoam with fill-ups and it took a little while but mileage came back ... It was the first time i've used Lucas in this truck and not sure if that was the cause of it or just got bad gas that time ... Oh well, just gonna keep a eye on it for awhile and see what happens ...
