My 94 22RE chokes and dies out after about 3 seconds . I need advice. Since my truck is running rich with terrible gas mileage I decided to check a couple of things yesterday. First I changed the oil and filter, then I pulled the wires off the plugs and came to find out that I didn't have the right size socket to pull the plugs out so I connected it back, next I opened my K&N to see if it's dirty and along that I disconnected the mass air flow sensor. So the intake was clean and I put it back together. Then I was advised to disconnect the battery to restart the ECU for possible better gas mileage. after that i connected the battery back and started the truck. Now it starts up for about 3 seconds then dies out. Sometimes it throws a code and sometimes it doesn't. Any suggestions? I feel as if I shouldn't have touched the mass air flow sensor. Although that could not be the problem.
I did check everything over multiple times. I might have broke the MAF sensor since the wire looks twisted. Anyone know how much a MAF sensor costs for a K&N? Should I take it to a shop and have them diagnose it?
does it have gas?? lol stupid question but that could be an issue. firing order could be it. and idk how you would fck up the MAF unless u were really careless with it. Go back to basics: Air, Fuel, Spark. Maybe its flooding??
yes it does have gas. I know it's not flooded either. Im gonna put in new plugs later today and see what happens. I just hope it's not the MAF sensor. If it is can I buy a new sensor or do I have to get a whole new K&N?
Post a pic of your K&N setup coz it's confusing.... I wasn't aware that K&N made AFM's for these engines...
update... It actually doesn't choke. It just dies out. Idol is normal. Ill have a pic of the K&N soon. I need more tips people.
ecus will go bad eventually i mean does have to go out completely it can like throw up some errors and kill your truck like with your fuel problems before it can thinks somthins up and that your truck needs extra fuel same exact thing happend to my buddys integra but it could be anything like vaccum leak fuel pump the list is almost endless
im not saying that it is the ecu tho could be anything truoble shoot the ecu last unless you have another 22re ecu laying around

Well I know it could have gone bad but it was just fine before I touched the MAF and everything else.
haha mines a filter i found layin around and me and my brother made the adapter plate h/o its dark ill try to take the best pic i can
